 Jerimiah's Story Jerimiah arrived at Ferret Wise, profoundly deaf and behaviorally challenged after suffering bad handling for five months in a out of state pet store. Jerimiah spent several more months in another rescue but was deemed a liability to re-home through adoption. Ferret Wise agreed to accept Jerimiah and to work with him providing him a safe and secure environment in which we hoped he would experience the comfort and a loving environment. For Jerimiah, Ferret Wise was a forever home, his emotional handicap would not allow him to leave. At Ferret Wise Jerimiah found a place where he did not have to fear, a home where he grew to know and accept his "people" and could frolic as a ferret should. His kibble bowl was always filled, his water fresh and his treats for good behavior plentiful. Jerimiah thrived in his safe home, as others continue to here, at Ferret Wise. We also have a referral service. All have been examined by a veterinarian, and given rabies and distemper inoculations. Ferret Wise also now tests all ferrets for ADV (Aleutians Disease Virus) prior to intake. No ferrets are admitted to the facility who test positive for ADV. Those families wishing to adopt - who have ferrets for companion check - must show proof of negative ADV testing (through United Vaccines) within 20 days prior to shelter visit. All adoptions are processed in the best interest of the ferret! Those persons interested in starting adoption procedures with Ferret Wise Shelter are encouraged to request an adoption pre-screening kit. Adoption fees are to help pay for the medical bills, food, transportation and supply expenses incurred while caring for them at this facility .
